Despite Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em> being released back in 2012, it still regularly tops lists of people\u2019s favorite role-playing games. Indeed, if you like games similar to Skyrim<\/em>, you\u2019re probably going to like Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Despite its success and widespread acclaim, as of yet Capcom haven\u2019t announced a sequel, something which would be music to the ears of the game\u2019s fans. There have been many rumors, though, and we\u2019ll break them down here. Will there be a Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2<\/em> or not?<\/p>\n

Is Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2 in Development?<\/h2>\n

Back in November 2020, Capcom fell victim to a cyber attack in which their tentative release schedule for the next 4 years was made public by an unknown hacker. Despite this being concerning from a security standpoint, there was some good news among the bad. Namely, there was a Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2<\/em> leak.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite Capcom neither confirming or denying the suspected upcoming release of Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2<\/em>, many believe it is highly plausible due to the recent push by Capcom to rejuvenate some of their most popular series, most notably the Resident Evil<\/em> and Devil May Cry<\/em> franchises.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the leaks, Dragon\u2019s Dogma 2<\/em> is scheduled to be released in 2022, so fans of the hack-and-slash RPG have reason to be hopeful. Credence was further given to the rumors by IGN, whose reporters seemingly confirmed that a new Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em> was in development, along with the suggestion that Street Fighter 6<\/em> will be released, too. Other noteworthy games reportedly being released include a Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/em> and Rockman<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also noteworthy that the principle game director who worked on Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em>, Hideaki Itsuno, has repeatedly referred to the game as one of his best creations and it is evident that he is very fond of the franchise.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dragon\u2019s Dogma Netflix<\/h2>\n

Despite there being no video game sequel yet, there is a Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em> anime dark fantasy series based on the game. It\u2019s a Netflix exclusive series that was released in September 2020 and received a generally positive response.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Most seemed to concede that, despite not being as good as the game released in 2012, the anime series was a good attempt to keep the franchise alive and was fairly entertaining. So far there has been 1 season consisting of 7 episodes, but a second series of Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em> has been confirmed by Netflix, with an anticipated release date sometime in 2021 or 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the Difference Between Dragon\u2019s Dogma and Dark Arisen?<\/h2>\n

Dragon\u2019s Dogma<\/em> and Dark Arisen<\/em> are essentially the same thing. When the original game (Dragon\u2019s Dogma)<\/em> was ported to the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, it was done so under the name Dragon\u2019s Dogma: Dark Arisen<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In short, Dark Arisen<\/em> contains a new Bitter Black Island area PLUS all of the DLC that was released for the vanilla copy of the game. So, if you want the complete experience, you\u2019ll probably want to get Dark Arisen<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
