One thing that a lot of FFX<\/em> players (including myself) struggle with is nailing the Jecht Shot on the boat so that you can gain the ability for Blitzball matches thereafter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is a knack to it, and once you know how to do it you should be able to execute it first time with ease. Read on to learn how to do the Jecht Shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How to do the Jecht Shot\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Step 1 \u2013 Get to the S.S. Winno<\/h3>\n

Tidus on the S.S. Winno<\/p>\n

The S.S. Winno is the ship that takes Tidus and the others to Luca after first visiting the Kilika Temple. Just by following the main quest you\u2019ll end up here, so you don;t need to worry about going out of your way to find it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Step 2 \u2013 Interact with the Blitzball<\/h3>\n

Interact with the Blitzball<\/p>\n

When you are free to move around the ship, you\u2019ll notice a blitzball lying still on the deck. Approach it and interact with it to initiate a cutscene.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The flashback in the cutscene shows Jecht mocking Tidus for not being able to perform the Jecht Shot. Tidus decides that now is the moment to rectify this, and tries to master his father\u2019s signature move. This is where you come into it.<\/p>\n

Step 3 \u2013 Execute the Jecht Shot<\/h3>\n

Use the D-Pad to press in the direction of the memory<\/p>\n

The tip to getting the Jecht Shot right is to coordinate the D-pad with the direction of the memory as it appears on the screen. For example, if \u201cYou can\u2019t do it, kid\u201d appears in the bottom left of the screen, press down and left on the D-pad whilst also hitting X. If a memory appears in the center of the screen, just press X without any direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Do this for as many memories appear on the screen, and Tidus will complete the sequence and finally learn the Jecht Shot. You\u2019ll know if you hit the memory correctly as it will flash brightly and then disappear. After you\u2019ve learnt the move, you can use it to devastating effect in future Blitzball matches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Can you learn the Jecht Shot if you fail on the boat?<\/h2>\n

You can return to the Jecht Shot once you have the Airship<\/p>\n

If you didn\u2019t manage to do the Jecht Shot on your first trip to Luca, don\u2019t worry. Fortunately, there is a way to get the Jecht Shot even if you fail the execution on the first try on the boat. The bad news, though, is that you\u2019ll have to wait until you have control of the airship towards the end of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Once you do have control of the ship, fly to Kilika and go to the ferry terminal. Jump on a ferry towards Luca and go interact with the ball on the ship\u2019s deck. You can repeat as many times as necessary until you finally manage to execute it right, so don\u2019t worry about failing it again.<\/p>\n

How do you get Jecht Shot 2<\/h2>\n

Tidus in the Flash back<\/p>\n

To learn Jecht Shot 2, you must be at least level 16 and you must also have learned Tidus\u2019 third key tech and the Anti-Venom ability. If you meet this criteria, the Jecht Shot 2 has a chance of being the 1st place prize in any Blitzball tournaments that you enter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jecht Shot 2 is a powerful ability to use in Blitzball matches as it has the ability to knock 3 players away en route to goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
